Bibik Belacan

Bibik Belacan, a local F&B startup that specialises in authentic Peranakan sambal belacan, engaged Poppin! Events to redesign their company logo. To help the brand appeal to younger audiences, the logo has been designed with a cursive font to give it a modern yet classic twist.

What We Did

Our graphic designer worked on a re-branding project for our client who was looking to update the look of their start-up business with a new logo. This extended to helping design a logo for their product, where our designer worked hard to ensure that our client is satisfied with the final design.

With the lack of knowledge on the Peranakan culture, our graphic designer went out of his way to learn about the culture through online resources as well as museums and interviews with actual Peranakans. He was able to gain inspirations from the visit, especially with the tile designs, which led him to produce the design.

Understanding the needs of the client

At the first meeting with the client, we were not able to create a plan of what we needed to know and it posed as a great challenge down the road for the graphic designer. Expectations were not properly understood and the scope of the project was not fully set - affecting the progress of the project as a whole.

Lack of expertise

As an amateur graphic designer, there was a whole lot of things I had to self learn through various resources. From the design processes and principles to technical skills needed to produce the work, it was challenging to learn while work on the go.
